As we step softly into November, nature invites us to pause. The fiery tones of autumn begin to fade, the air turns crisp, and the world feels quieter, as though everything is taking a long, deep breath before winter arrives. Itās a time when the earth reminds us that rest is not laziness; itās a vital part of our natural rhythm.
For many of us, this season mirrors whatās happening within. Our energy begins to draw inward. The outer world slows down, encouraging us to listen more deeply to our intuition, to reflect on how far weāve come this year, and to nurture ourselves in simple, soul-nourishing ways.
The Energy of November
November carries the vibration of gratitude, introspection, and spiritual stillness. Itās the bridge between the vibrant energy of autumn and the introspective calm of winter; a time to prepare for renewal by honouring what has been.
In energy work, this is when we move from the outward expression of fire (summer and early autumn) into the grounding and soothing energy of earth and water. Itās a natural moment to release, reset, and reconnect.
Ask yourself:
What am I grateful for, even in the small moments?
What can I gently let go of before the year ends?
Where does my energy feel most at peace right now?
These reflections arenāt just mental exercises; theyāre energetic recalibrations. Gratitude raises our vibration and opens the heart, while releasing creates space for new beginnings.
Ayurveda & the Vata Season
In Ayurveda, autumn into early winter is known as the Vata season, governed by the elements of air and ether. This energy brings qualities of lightness, dryness, coolness, and movement. When in balance, Vata inspires creativity, clarity, and spiritual connection. But when imbalanced, it can leave us feeling scattered, anxious, restless, or depleted.
To balance this airy, changeable energy, Ayurveda encourages grounding, warmth, and nourishment, both physically and energetically.
Here are a few ways to soothe and support your body this season:
šæ Favour warm, cooked foods: soups, stews, porridge, and herbal teas with warming spices like ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom. These support digestion and calm Vataās dryness.
šÆļø Create routine and stillness.Ā Vata thrives on rhythm; try to wake, eat, and rest around similar times each day. This steadiness helps you feel anchored amidst seasonal change.
š§ Nourish the body through touch.Ā A daily self-massage (Abhyanga) using warm sesame or almond oil grounds the nervous system and soothes the skin, especially lovely before a warm bath.
šø Sip grounding teas.Ā My MeditationĀ or Sleepy Herbal TeaĀ blends are perfect this time of year, helping calm the mind and settle restless energy before bed.
šØ Breathe slowly and deeply.Ā Try gentle breathwork like alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana)Ā to balance both sides of the body and calm the mind.
When we live in tune with natureās rhythm, we support our bodyās own healing intelligence, and November becomes less about darkness and more about peaceful restoration.
Rituals for Reflection
Here are some gentle practices to align your energy this month:
1. Create Your Evening Ritual:Ā Light a candle, sip your favourite herbal tea, and journal for five minutes about what youāre grateful for. Let this become a sacred pause before sleep.
2. Ground Through the Senses:Ā Diffuse earthy essential oils such as Frankincense, Clary Sage,Ā or Sweet Orange. These oils bring warmth and calm while uplifting the spirit.
3. Book a Soulful Reset.Ā If your energy feels scattered, a Reiki or Reflexology sessionĀ can help bring you back into alignment. Many clients find this time of year perfect for deep rest before the festive rush.
Try This: The November Gratitude Ritual
Find a peaceful moment, preferably in the evening.
Light a candle and hold your hands over your heart.
Say out loud three things you are grateful for today.
Visualise your heart expanding with golden light.
Breathe deeply and affirm:
Ā āI am thankful for this moment. I trust where my energy is guiding me.ā
Closing Thoughts

November reminds us that healing isnāt always loud; sometimes itās in the quiet. Itās in the soft glow of a candle, the warmth of herbal tea between your hands, and the gentle whisper of your intuition saying, āYouāre exactly where youāre meant to be.ā
So, as the year begins to wind down, honour your bodyās need for stillness, warmth, and simplicity. Let gratitude be your guide, and may your energy settle into the peaceful rhythm of natureās flow.
With love and light,
