March – The Month the Earth Breathes Again

Hello lovelies,
Come and sit for a moment.
If February was the quiet pause… March is the gentle stretch afterwards. Not the dramatic kind. Not the “new year, new me” energy. No. March is softer than that. It’s the month that leans in and whispers, “Perhaps we try again.”
There’s something about this time of year that feels ancient. The soil is still cool. The mornings still hold a slight chill. And yet, something has shifted. You can feel it in the air. It moves differently. It carries possibility.
March is the breath between seasons.
Winter hasn’t fully left. Spring hasn’t fully arrived. We stand in the doorway.
And energetically, that doorway is powerful.
The Quiet Stirring of Fire
Through winter, we lived in Water and Earth. Depth. Reflection. Stillness. Storage. We were meant to slow down. Nature demanded it.
But now, beneath the damp soil, something stirs. Fire doesn’t burst in during March. It glows. A small ember at first.

You may notice it as a thought: I’d quite like to clear that cupboard. I might start walking again. Maybe it’s time to plan something.
This is elemental intelligence. Water has cleansed. Earth has held. Now, Fire begins to awaken.
Not the blazing sun of summer, but the inner pilot light returning.
March teaches us that growth does not begin with force. It begins with warmth.
The Sacred Balance — Spring Equinox
Around the 20th of March, we meet the Spring Equinox, that beautiful moment where day and night stand equal.
Light and dark in perfect balance.
I’ve always loved that symbolism. We don’t have to eliminate the darkness to welcome the light. They coexist. They bow to one another.
And perhaps that is what March asks of us, too.
Where have we been pushing too hard?
Where have we been hiding?
Where might balance serve us better than extremes?
This isn’t a month for dramatic reinvention. It’s a month for recalibration.
The Body Knows It’s Time
If you listen carefully, your body is shifting as well.
You might feel a little heavy one day and surprisingly energised the next. You might crave fresher foods. Open windows. Longer walks.

You may even feel slightly emotional without quite knowing why.
This is completely natural.
Winter is the season of storing. Spring is the season of releasing.
In holistic wisdom, March begins to invite a gentle cleanse…not in the harsh, punishing sense the modern world sometimes promotes…but in the biological sense. The body naturally wants to move away from stagnation. To lighten.
Warm lemon water. Fresh herbs. Light soups. A little more movement. Nothing extreme. Just cooperate with the rhythm of the season.
Ayurveda & The Kapha Thaw
In Ayurveda, this time of year belongs to Kapha, Earth and Water energy. Steady. Grounded. Loyal. Nurturing.
But when Kapha lingers too heavily, we can feel stuck. Sluggish. Congested. Unmotivated.
So what do we do?
We gently introduce warmth.
A little ginger in your tea. A brisk morning walk. Dry body brushing before your shower. Waking slightly earlier to greet the day rather than rolling deeper into it.
Think of it like stirring a quiet pond so the water begins to move again.
March is not about shocking the system. It’s about awakening it kindly.
Emotionally… A Subtle Courage
There is something emotionally tender about March.
It can bring reflection. A review of winter lessons. A sense of quiet readiness. Sometimes, even a soft restlessness.
It’s the month where ideas start forming but haven’t yet taken shape. Like buds on a tree, tightly closed but full of promise.
You don’t need to have the whole plan.
You just need to honour the stirring.
Perhaps this is the month you:
Say yes to something new.
Or say no where you’ve been overextending.
Begin a practice you’ve been contemplating.
Or simply recommit to yourself.
March doesn’t demand loud declarations. It honours small, sincere steps.
A Fireside Invitation
If you feel called, try this one simple thing.
One evening this month, open a window just slightly. Let the air in. Light a candle. Sit quietly.
Place your hands over your heart and ask:
What in me is ready to grow?
Don’t force an answer. Just listen.
Growth in March is subtle. It doesn’t shout. It hums.
The Deeper Wisdom of March
What I love most about this month is its gentleness.
It reminds us that beginning again does not require perfection. It requires willingness.
The trees do not panic about whether they are ready to bloom. They respond to light. The earth does not question whether it deserves to soften. It simply does.
And so can we.
March is not about becoming someone new.
It is about remembering who you are when warmth returns.
And perhaps, as we move through these early spring days, that is enough.
With warmth as the season turns,
